Capacity factor
Capacity factor is how much a plant actually generated over a period as a share of what it would have generated running flat out the whole time. It is the number that separates installed capacity from delivered energy, and the two are routinely confused.
Installed capacity is known on day one. Capacity factor is what turns it into the units a buyer actually pays for.
Combining sources on one site raises the combined capacity factor without adding grid connection, which is most of the argument for building that way.
