Curtailment
Curtailment is a generator being instructed to produce less than it could, usually because the grid cannot absorb it at that moment. The energy is simply not made. It is a direct loss of revenue and it rises as more intermittent generation connects to the same network.
Storage and flexible loads such as an electrolyser reduce exposure to it, by giving the surplus somewhere to go other than nowhere.
It belongs in a project model from the start, because it depends on the grid rather than on the plant.
